John Newby
biography
John Newby is one of the shareholders of our law firm. Mr. Newby focuses his practice exclusively on personal injury law. He is a member of the Virginia State Bar, the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, the Richmond Bar Association and the Million Dollar Advocates Forum. He currently serves on the Virginia Trial Lawyer’s Association Tort Law Legislative Subcommittee. Mr. Newby chairs the firm’s products liability section.
Mr. Newby lives in Powhatan with his wife and daughter. When not working, he enjoys spending time outdoors, travelling with his family, and watching football.
education
Mr. Newby grew up in Powhatan and Chesterfield Counties and graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a B.A. in History. After college, he attended law school at Washington and Lee University.

Prior to college and law school, Mr. Newby served in the United States Army and was stationed at N.A.T.O. headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. He continued his military service with the Virginia Army National Guard until 2003.
In 2015 – 2016, Virginia Super Lawyers Magazine recognized Mr. Newby as one of the top personal injury lawyers in Virginia.
Prior to that, he was recognized as Rising Star by Virginia Super Lawyers in 2008, 2009, 2011, and 2012.
Mr. Newby has had a number of verdicts and settlements listed in Virginia Lawyers Weekly’s annual list of the largest verdicts and settlement of the year.
Mr. Newby has also successfully argued cases before the Virginia Supreme Court.
