$10 Million Verdict – Negligent medical care in Petersburg
For the second year in a row, Tronfeld West & Durrett and the Rawls Law Group have obtained the largest jury verdict in Virginia. After a seven-day trial last year, a jury in Peterburg returned a verdict for $10,000,000.00 for the family of a 63-year-old woman who died as a result of negligent medical care. This tragic death has been a devastating loss for the family. The trial was necessary because the defendant’s physician refused to take responsibility for his negligent and inadequate care. We were honored to represent a wonderful and loving family. Although no amount of money will ever bring their mother and wife back, the verdict represents accountability, responsibility, and justice for their loss.
*Virginia law imposes a cap on the amount of medical malpractice verdicts. The jury’s verdict was reduced to the amount of the cap as stated in Virginia Code 8.01-581.15.
