$500,000 Settlement – Plaintiff missed promotion due to injuries from crash
Taken from Virginia Lawyers Weekly.
The plaintiff was driving a vehicle on I-95 in Prince William County in route to a business meeting when she was struck by the defendant. The collision resulted in moderate damage to both vehicles. The plaintiff was initially treated at a local hospital with only minor complaints. Upon returning to Richmond, the plaintiff was treated by a physician and received a short course of physical therapy. When the plaintiff ’s cervical symptoms did not resolve after three months, she was seen by an orthopedic surgeon, who diagnosed her with a C5-6 disc herniation.
The plaintiff ultimately underwent an anterior discectomy and fusion. The plaintiff was prepared to offer testimony at trial that she missed out on a job promotion at work because of the time missed after the collision and surgery. The case settled at mediation.
