Kelly Martin is a shareholder with our firm. Mr. Martin dedicates his practice to personal injury litigation including automobile accidents, medical malpractice, products liability, and premises liability. Mr. Martin chairs the firm’s Governmental Liability section.

When he’s not at a JMU football game, Mr. Martin enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife Sarah and their children.

 

Education

Mr. Martin graduated cum laude from the George Mason University Law School in Arlington, Virginia. Prior to joining Tronfeld West & Durrett, Mr. Martin clerked for the Richmond Circuit Court and worked for a regional insurance defense firm in downtown Richmond.

He is licensed to practice in all Virginia courts and the Western and Eastern District Courts of Virginia.

Achievements

From 2020 through 2022, Mr. Martin was named a Super Lawyer by the Virginia Super Lawyers Magazine in the field of personal injury. He was previously named a Rising Star by the Virginia Super Lawyers Magazine from 2014 through 2018.

Mr. Martin achieved the ninth-largest jury verdict in 2014 for his client who was injured by a work truck. His verdicts and settlements are frequently published in Virginia Lawyers Weekly.

In 2012, Mr. Martin was selected by the National Trial Lawyers organization as a “Top 40 under 40” attorney in Virginia.

He is active with the Richmond Bar and Virginia Trial Lawyers Associations and currently serves on several committees. He previously served on the Executive Committees for the Litigation Section and the Young Lawyers Section of the Richmond Bar Association.

Mr. Martin is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, the American Association for Justice, and the Richmond Bar Association.
